What Do American Board Certified Surgeons Mean When They Refer to "Fat Grafting" as a Possibility to Add Volume instead of injectable FIllers?

Fat grafting, as the name implies it, consists of a transfer of adipocytes from one area of the body to another area in order to add volume using your own cells instead of implants or injectable fillers. These cells are harvested by liposuction and injected into the desired area to increase volume. The American Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, in this case, Dr. Perez, will assure fat grafting and injection of more fat tissue than needed since approximately 40% to 50% of the adipocytes transferred will die (tissue necrosis) as a natural process due to the surgery, which will considerably reduce the volume.

How Would I Know if my Condition Will Qualify to have "Fat Grafting"? What Procedures Dr. Perez Do the Most?

Some patients undergo mastectomy or lumpectomy due to the presence of a tumor, malign or benign respectively. Under this situation, fat grafting has been used to correct partial deformities of the breasts after the mentioned procedures. For those patients who had cancer, they should wait at least a year before attempting to have this procedure. There has been a significant increase in fat grafting to the buttocks since 2014, which is best known as gluteal fat transfer or Brazilian Butt Lift. This procedure is significantly famous at the Plastic Surgery Center of Tampa where Dr. Perez's expertise has been demonstrated through his post-surgical results. Fat grafting to the face, known as a facelift, is another famous procedure performed by Dr. Perez. This procedure is will correct volume disparities on the face, and the fat grafts are often placed under the nasolabial folds (between the upper lip and cheeks), and the cavities or hollows below or at the cheekbones. Besides fat grafting to the breast and the buttocks, another Dr. Perez's famous procedure is fat transfer to calves.
